By
Real Estate Agent with Realty Place 01815256

You have to check out La Jolla!

I recommend going during a weekday as weekends can get really busy!
(you had better hope your parking karma is really good or be prepared to walk!)

Here is the path of my trip (Marked "A" "B" "C")

Stop "A"
First Stop was the Cave Store
located at:
1325 Cave Street
La Jolla, CA 92037-3684
(858) 459-0746
www.cavestore.com
It is a little hole in the wall... literally!

The Cave Store Front In La Jolla

It is $4 for adults $3 for kids and under 3 is free.
I remember doing this walk as a kid... and it seemed a lot shorter... now that I am older these stairs go on for ever!
It also did not help that the stairs have a low ceilings and I hit my head every time I turned around.
(We were lucky and got parking right in front of the Cave Store.)

Stairs down to the cave  The Cave Store Stairs In La JollaAt The Cave Bottom In La Jolla

We then hoped in the car and drove down Coast Blvd a 1/3 of a mile and found a parking spot.
(we would have walked.. but we had our 4 year old and his buddy... anyone with a 4 year old knows that a 1/3 of a mile is really 30 miles when walking)

The Drive (all 1/3 of a mile of it over to childerns pool)

La Jolla Cove

La Jolla Cove, We had to have a walk about

Stop "B"
We headed over to The Children's Pool to see if there were any seals.. as of 8/18/10 they had moved on.. No Seals.
We did see seals swimming out in the ocean and the water was crystal clear.... not something this San Diego native is use to seeing!
I wondered for a minute if I was still in So Cal?
We got some great pictures as well!

Stop "C"
we had seen Smashburgers on one of those travel shows and thought it looked really good.... and it was!

Lunch at Smashburgers

Burgers are about 5-6 bucks we got the San diego and BBQ burgers.. Outstanding!!!                                                                                     The fried pickles were.... well kinda gross the smash fries were really GOOD and the onion strings... Well, Suz liked them ...
Did I mention the Smash Fries were really good!
you can add sides to your burger for 2 bucks.
Shakes were good... I thought a little expensive at 4 bucks.
They also had salads that looked really good.... we did not order any as we had our health to think about!
Over all great food at a great price!

So nice. La Jolla is a beautiful place. love it.  We are going to be in Monterey for the weekend and drinking in the ocean breezes.

Cute! I have family in La Jolla that I've been trying and trying to get down and visit. You may have inspired me to make that final extra effort. Looks like you had some nice weather, too.
