Your humor in this post gave me my laugh for the day, although racism is no laughing matter. Great info to share -
That's great - too sad that you even had to write it. I'd simply say, if you've got the money, go for it. It's all green.
Phly, I enjoyed what you can do with a little inspiration from Alan May, frankly I'd like to hear more!
Karen - LOL! and Thanks! I was thinking about doing a "Realtor Phly" series. It would basically be about things you would love to do as a Realtor, but really can't ethically get away with. I'm currently finishing up another video project, then I'll be able to get to work on it. ;)
Carla - Thanks! ;) It really makes me so upset when people have attitudes like that. I'm amazed and horrified when I hear or see someone make a racist comment, it's just such a completely ugly thing to do. It makes me sad to know that my little girl is growing up in a world where attitudes like that still exist.
Juli- That's great way of responding to a bad situation. It's really hard for the Realtor when the seller makes a big deal out of race or religion.
Nick - Thank you! Alan May is the man! ;) He's amazing at creating blog posts that make you laugh and make you think at the same time. I tend to put a more theatrical/dramatic bent on everything I write, it's just how my personality works! ;)
... and I think this is a great demonstration as to why you'd make a GREAT Realtor! (feel free to throw a link into your comment on my post... I don't ordinarilly like "outgoing links" from my post... but in this case, it's worth an exception)... but don't let any [insert racial slur here] read it, okay... ?
Bill - Willkommen! (I love babelfish!)*grin* It's a little like Miss Bad Manners, that's why it's good! ;)
Alan - LOL! And thanks! ;) I tend to get on my soap-box pretty fast about some things, and racism is one of them! Recently I had to explain what racial slurs were to my daughter. I found out that some little boy at the pool had gotten mad at her and called her a whole slew of nasty names. The only thing I could do was tell her that we don't EVER use those words because it is really mean and makes people very sad. . . . . She then informed me that we needed to go back to the pool so I could spank the little boy's bum for calling her mean names, and because he might do it to someone else too, and she did not want anyone else to be sad. ;)
Phly, I think Miss Bad Manners and Realtor Phly may share a common bloodline, but you are your OWN original!
Fantastic, I actually think it's an excellent Realtor response! Hope this gets featured.
Coral - Thank you! ;) It was fun to write, and I'm glad it made you smile! ;)
Ty - I actually had a license. Weird I know! ;) What I thought was a golden opportunity turned out to be a VERY complicated mess, one that would require you to endure years of therapy to get over the explanation, so I'll just leave it at that. . . . So after a long period of nothing going right, I decided that blogging and social media was the market for me, especially since I can tell it like it is and not have to worry about clients getting mad! ;)
Phly, at least you know your mind and speak it. There are too many people in the world that won't take a stand. Thanks for voicing it here and with a little humor, tongue in cheek.
Phly: I think a video or two like this on YouTube... and you won't need to worry about being a Realtor. You'll be appearing on Saturday Night Live ! Cool move... let's see the video now. Come on... you can do it !
PS... the "suggest" button has been hit !
