I'm divorcing Mr. Laptop. Could anyone suggest his replacement?

I have a very intimate relationship with my laptop. So much so I've named him Larry. Larry follows me wherever Ibest real estate laptop go.  I spend more time with him than any human being ..including my husband.

In fact, I think my husband is a little jealous of the amount of time I spend with Larry.  He really shouldn't be though because Larry the Laptop is 2 years old and that's like what...94 in people years?

Here's the thing... Larry is becoming a little slow to respond to the requests I make of him and sometimes he ignores me completely.  I'm guessing he's becoming a little hard of hearing at his advanced age or maybe he's just getting cranky.  Hardening of the circuit board or something.

Not that I'm callous to geriatric electronic devices...but I think it's time for us to part ways.

I'm thinking it would be fabulous to have a shiny new Tablet PC so I can go completely paperless. I dream of listing appointments where I could have the seller sign the documents right on the screen.  And imagine, not having to go back to the office or mess with paper when you're out with a buyer and you find the perfect home.  How cool would that be?

So that leads me to my next question (I'm typing quietly now...don't want Larry to hear)... Since the tablet pc has been out for quite awhile, are any of you using one?  Lenovo seems to be the tablet pc that has been around the longest and I understand it integrates with Zipforms so I'm leaning that way.

Or, is there another option that's best for Real Estate Agents?

Don't worry about Larry the Laptop though.  I'll find a place where he can live out his final years in a much more restful environment.

I've been using the Toshiba Portege for a few years now and I just love it. I've actully earned a few listings because of it with my Sellers being impressed with my use of modern technology.

I have been using Apple products for years now... I would say go with a Mac not only becuase they "look cool" but they just work.

A few things to check before you switch... does your MLS support Mac? Sandicor does not and it drive me NUTS!

Check out apple.com for more info or just stop by an apple store and talk to an apple guy or gal.

A friend just got an iPad - it certainly looks cool.  In my opinion, the tablets aren't quite there yet - I would give them a couple years.  I just got a new Dell Vostro laptop that is very fast, is a good listener and cleans up after itself ;<).  New, fast laptops are very economical right now.

Adam, Ron, James ~ I would love to go Mac...but I'm terrified of all the software compatability issues.  Thoughts?

Susan~ Is that Toshiba a tablet?

Dennis & J. Stephen ~ I've heard the iPad is not really a workhorse.  I need all the word processing capabilities as well.

Yes, that is a tablet and I love all that it can do.  I bought exclusively through Toshiba as it wasn't in any shops back then.  Here's the link

More opinions than you want to hear about.

You could probably stop reading at #1.  Larry II should be an Apple laptop.
