How do you like these energy costs - going up & up !!
It's gonna save you a few bucks if do a couple of things in the fall.
Check the perimeters of your doors and windows - with houses settling and such, there's bound to be places where the cold air is seeping in.
TIP - either wet the back of your hand or get a piece of toilet tissue out and hold near suspected leaks to identify exactly where they exist.
Once a leak is found, you can do several things to seal it off:
1) Seal door jambs and edges by applying weatherstripping (self adhesive)
2) Use caulk in exterior joints so that the air won't infiltrate.
3) Foam pads are effective to seal electrical outlets and switches. The pads fit under the cover plates.
4) Plastic tape folded in a V shape is good for applying to tops & bottoms of window sashes, door edges, and other gaps of components that are stationary.
Enough for now! Be blogging to you later!
