What a great Community - Gator Trace
Back in 2003 my husband and I were looking to purchase a small condo to furnish and rent out on a seasonal and monthly basis as an investment. After weeks of searching, one of our friends who is familiar with the area said "you may want to look at Gator Trace, it is a nice quiet community with a golf course and clubhouse, I think you may like it." We then made plans to spend a weekend in the St. Lucie County area to take a look around. I was somewhat familiar with the area as I had worked in the Sales Department of the Sandpiper Bay Resort which is now owned by Club Med. Over that weekend stay we decided to take a little time to drive through Gator Trace. Well to make a long story short we found a cute 2 bedroom/2 bath condo on the first floor right next to the clubhouse, exactly what we were looking for. We purchased it that very day.
The next several months were spent fixing up, buying furniture, fixtures, pictures, towels, dishes, pots and pans, and laying new carpet. We wanted it to be perfect when we made it available to renters for the "High Season". It was "fun" and it was "great" as we were able to meet our neighbors, play some golf and familiarize ourselves with the community while working on the condo. It became a ritual for us to walk through the development every morning at 5:30-6:00A. It is so quiet as we strolled through the streets, you could hear the grunts of the alligators, the singing of the waking birds and stirring of animals. One such morning as the sun started to rise we saw a pair of owls sitting on our roof cooing and dancing around one another. We could only surmise that this was their mating ritual, one that we would probably never have the opportunity to see again. My husband turned to me and said "I feel like we our looking out over the Serengeti." It is so true, the wild life at Gator Trace is a way of life at Gator Trace. Although we are limited to spending only a few days a year staying in the condo ourselves, our renters seem to enjoy their time at Gator Trace. So much so, that we have some returning for their 7th year in 2011.
