Why I Love my Job

Real Estate Agent with CastNet Realty TREC#263257

I was just answering a comment and I realized I need to write a blog about why I love my job.

My job:  Real estate broker, agent, consultant, business owner, trainer, negotiator, psychoanalyst?

Yes, I wear many hats.  It can be a challenge getting all this work done and in a timely fashion.  Everything in real estate revolves around deadlines.  So some days are very hectic.  Most of mine are but there is never room for boredom.  That is one of the reasons I love my job.

Meeting people. Clients, customers, lenders, title people, insurers, inspectors, builders, contractors, advertising salespeople and the list goes on.  Real estate is a great job to have if you like meeting people.

Knowing people.  This is more than meeting folks, this is getting to know them personally.  Sometimes very personally, as in financially.  Knowing what their dreams are, knowing what they do , what they want, what they can do, knowing their families and friends.  Becoming close and helping them in every way possible.  Bearing burdens, coming up with ideas, creating ways to help.

Putting the deals together.  Connecting buyers and sellers and helping each to realize their dreams.  Making all the figures work out, hitting the deadlines, making the impossible, possible.

Handing over the keys.   What a great time this is.  To hand someone the keys to their new home.  Seeing their faces light up and their smiles widen.  Knowing their lives will be changed forever.  New neighborhoods, new friends, new opportunities and I had a part in the change in their lives.  This feeling is euphoric and I never get tired of being there when the final paper is signed.  I love taking their picture and giving it back as a keepsake of the moment.

Going home after a long day and knowing I did something good today!         IT'S A GOOD FEELING!

The variety inherent in working with people keeps it an ever changing, never boring career.  And the moment when you can share in someone's joy at finding the perfect home or getting one sold so they can move on in their life - priceless!

Hi Rob,  Yes ,it describes us all pretty well :)

Hi David,  I wish you the best too, sounds like you are!

Hey Kathryn,  I do too.  Negatism breeds negatism.  Let's go for the positive! :)

Hi Michelle,  People problem solving, never boring, never finished :) Good for us!

Hi there Andrew,  It has been ages.  Funny, I used to be with Coldwell Banker when we first met and now you are and I am not. :)  Hope all is going great for you.  Stop by more often! :)

Thank you Carl & Ceil,  My hat's off to you two!

Yes Jeana,  I couldn't agree more.  Well said.

Hi Sharon,  You must love people and if you do, this is a great business!

Hi Mario,  I can't imagine doing a job where I could not see the direct impact in people's lives. It would be hard to be motivated in such a business.

Hi Nancy,  Priceless, that's what we do! :)

Hi Ricki -- It is amazing how many hats a GOOD agent wears.  It can be both exhausting and immensely satisfying when done well and things go well.

Ricki, I love how you explain the many jobs we end up doing to make a transaction come together. I would add marriage counselor, astrologist, occasional hugger, and adult babysitter.

That's good Sharon,  Enjoying what we do is so important.

Hope your day is great Janna!  You never know what a day holds.

Hi Catherine,   That is good, have a wonderful week!

Hi Terry,  It is, but there are times when they don't and we just have to get past those and move forward.  Hoping you have some good ones work this week! :)

Hi J. Philip,   Yes, there are more you can add to the list and I love the adult babysitter, also we can add child babysitter.  That is where patience has to reign. :)

Every morning on my way to the gym I see the "cubicle dwellers" leaving the subdivision.  That, in and of itself, is enough of a reason to love this job.
