The hatred towards President Obama continues to amaze me.

I very seldom blog about political things. But a bumper sticker I saw today on a truck (actually there were 3 anti-Obama stickers on the truck) prompted me to write this blog.

I want to begin by stating that my reaction towards the bumper sticker has nothing to do with whether I voted for or against Obama in the last election and it has nothing to do with whether or not I approve with his performance while in office. What it has to do with is the fact that so many people want to see him fail so badly, that they don't care if the nation suffers in the mean time.

The bumper sticker read: You bet I want to see Obama fail!

How selfish is that? If you don't like him then work against him in the next election. Help vote him out. Vote in a new person and overturn the laws Obama has worked to instill. Because rather we like it or not, he is the President of our country. Does he not deserve the respect of the office if nothing else?

Of course many would say no. They would say they love this country and the office, but not him. But ask yourself, if you really love this country shouldn't you respect the outcomes of our elections? It's one of the basic pillars of a free nation.

In these troubled times, it's sad there is so much hate. It's also sad that some people hate Obama so much that it's ok for Americans to experience even more pain and suffering as long as they can get rid of Obama in the end. I think I choose instead to live my life without so much hate in my heart.

The hatred against Obama really puzzles me. I guess there's a whole bunch of people who would cut off their noses to spite their faces. Despite the protestations you will hear from people, a large chunk of the hatred boils down to simple racism.

Billi - It is particularily upsetting when the people displaying such negative messages, couldn't be bothered to go to the polls.  It is easy to take shots and complain .... not so easy to get involved and try and do something about it.  Thanks for sharing ....

Hi Billie,  Like you I try to stay away from the political stuff but the premise to your post ( ... that they don't care if the nation suffers in the mean time. " )  really is scary !  Way too many people wraping themselves in our flag while spreading lies and distortions !  I also want things to get better but wanting the entire country to fail so that we can experiment with a whole new set of politicians is just nuts !

Although there is some hatred toward him, not all  people who do not like Obama hate him. When he campaigned he said he was going to this, people still voted for him, he then put forth his policies, further hurting America and people hate that they didnt listen more.  They hate his policies that are smothering small businesses like us and will further hit us hard when this Obamacare comes into full affect next year.

No matter what your political leanings are, un-called for remarks such as this are not productive.

There was also a lot of hate for Bush when he was in office, it's just changed parities.  Maybe it's a sign of the times being we have a country that is cut up in thirds, Republicans, Democrats and Independents (who really are the deciders).  If the parties change back to Republicans in 2012 we will be back to hating to other side again.  It seems we have gotten into a rut of always having to hate someone.

I wish we were in the times when we could "ask not what the country can do for you".... The hatred is upsetting as well as everyone wanting someone to fix things....when most americans are not willing to do anything for their country except a few who have given their lives.  We are acting like a bunch of spoiled kids.

Marcia, I agree with you. Instead of working together to solve problems both Democrats and Republicans are more concerned about controlling the house and Senate.

Billi, very well said and very educated of you as well. It's crazy how some people think.... I feel sorry for them. On my end, I feel that regardless of people not having the same opnions, they should work together if they want a successful and peaceful outcome.
