I very seldom blog about political things. But a bumper sticker I saw today on a truck (actually there were 3 anti-Obama stickers on the truck) prompted me to write this blog.
I want to begin by stating that my reaction towards the bumper sticker has nothing to do with whether I voted for or against Obama in the last election and it has nothing to do with whether or not I approve with his performance while in office. What it has to do with is the fact that so many people want to see him fail so badly, that they don't care if the nation suffers in the mean time.
The bumper sticker read: You bet I want to see Obama fail!
How selfish is that? If you don't like him then work against him in the next election. Help vote him out. Vote in a new person and overturn the laws Obama has worked to instill. Because rather we like it or not, he is the President of our country. Does he not deserve the respect of the office if nothing else?
Of course many would say no. They would say they love this country and the office, but not him. But ask yourself, if you really love this country shouldn't you respect the outcomes of our elections? It's one of the basic pillars of a free nation.
In these troubled times, it's sad there is so much hate. It's also sad that some people hate Obama so much that it's ok for Americans to experience even more pain and suffering as long as they can get rid of Obama in the end. I think I choose instead to live my life without so much hate in my heart.
