Using SMS to Grow Your Real Estate Contact Database

Do you have a strategy for Mobile Marketing?  According to Gartner Inc.,

"By 2013, mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common Web access device worldwide."

So how do you get started?  All along you have been told to build your email database and grow your RSS readers and now mobile?  Well mobile isn't going anywhere and in fact resides on the hips and in the pockets and purses of most of your clients and potential customers until their heads hit the pillow for bed.  So while you are growing your contacts online, wouldn't it be great to be right at their fingertips on a device that is easily accessible and almost always on?

Heck Yes.

Getting started doesn't mean abandoning the work you have done to date.  It means moving forward and integrating SMS into your current marketing and sales strategies by working on successful and measurable campaigns.

Here's an easy guide on how to lay the foundation and use SMS to Grow Your Real Estate Contact Database.

Hi Rebecca, I am bookmarking this.  I had my first call yesterday from someone trying to sell me on advertising using cell phones.  He got off when I told him that was just going to piss people off.

Great topic. I've been dragging my feet on implementing but it's on my radar.  Just don't want to text rate info like an idiot.  There's very little value there.

FYI - going to nominate this to be featured.

The Weber Team- Thanks I am glad you enjoyed it.

Marchel- Thanks for the feature suggestion.  As to your point about ads, yes it does depend on the offer and should be part of an overall marketing strategy.  Like with email, if all I received were coupon offers from an advertiser it might bug me, but IF I only just wanted to receive coupon offers from a business and expected them to come via sms then it wouldn't bother me.

So, like with any campaign- set the expectation and make it really good information or make it a really good offer.  SMS offers are opt-in also, so these folks are opting in to receiving your stuff.  Just set the expectation of what they will get when they sign-up, make the offer really good and let them decide if they want to get it on their phones.  I'd rather get great info. or good offer info. via SMS then by email and I believe we are trending this way as a whole- the statics confirm this trend.  Email campaigns can also push your SMS campaigns.

Vickie- If they are buying smart phones then they might be more ready than we might initially think.  Honestly before I was actively engaged in SMS I think I had misconceptions about its uses but now really feel very strongly that it is the most powerful database you can build.

Larry- Woot!!! Good for you.  You'll have to share.

Dick and Dixie- I agree.  I had a blackberry curve, moved to a palm pre and  might add the Droid to the mix but my phone is definitely where it's at.

Drew- Thanks for the feature nomination and yes I agree, rate info. might be  boring, but special fluctations in rate info. could mean saving a rate lock and be very useful to your borrowers.  Also home buyer seminars on mortgage programs....so many things.

Rebecca, That's a very interesting idea...Like others above, I have a bit of a concern about potential customer/target "burn-out" when SMS advertising becomes more mainstream; what do you think about that possibility?
