Weatherby Lake is a private community located in Platte County, Missouri and is ideally suited for a year-round residence or vacation home. It encompasses 836 acres of which the lake consists of 274 acres. The lake provides swimming, sailing, boating and other water activities for residents, while the private community offers tennis court(s) and eight city parks to include a swimming beach, children play areas, sand volleyball court, basketball court, and walking trail. In the 2000 Census, there were 1,873 persons living in Weatherby Lake. The population comprises 24% of children aged between 0-17 years, 6% persons aged 18 – 24 years, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 38% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age of persons in Weatherby Lake was 45.8 years. There were 700 households, and 588 families residing in the city. Families (non-single residences) represent 85.2% of the population, giving Weatherby Lake a higher than average concentration of families: 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.6% were married couples living together, 4.5 were single parent families, 2.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.8% were non-families. 14.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 2.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
