Kennesaw Tunnel is now open complete with a history lesson

The historic depot in downtown Kennesaw, Ga. host many events throughout the year, from 4th of July fireworks to art shows, concerts, and festivals.  It is a civil war are train depot and the tracks are still very active today.  Having public events next to an active train track can present issues and the pedestrian tunnel has been a long awaited improvement for downtown Kennesaw. Not only is this a great improvement it comes with a history lesson for the "Great Locomotive Chase" which began right there!

I am familiar with Kennesaw and have been in this area many times.  I never knew about this train depot, very interesting!   There is no doubt that Georgia is rich in history and beauty. Thanks for posting.

I lived in Kennesaw when I first moved to Atlanta.  I don't think I ever even went to the actual downtown before though.

Jennifer, Very true.  There's lots of history her ein Cobb and all around Atlanta.

Rodney, When I first moved to Cobb County 30+years ago we lived in North Marietta but only a few miles from downtown Kennesaw.   It was very, very different then.
