At this time a lot of folks are moving to the Houston,Katy,Cypress area. The local houston economy is significantl y better that most of the country. I get emails from folks all of the time lately who are considering a move here from all over the country for that reason, and also the schools here. Mainly KISD here on the far west side of Harris County. CFISD in the North Katy, Cypress area is another notable school district.
Aside from wanting to move to the area because of our econcomy and schools.....the home prices are also quite moderate. If you are buying or leasing it is still less expensive to do so than most places around the U.S. The Katy area in particular has a lot to offer. There are two different areas of Katy...North and South. The south side(south of I-10) is normallly more expensive per sqft than North Katy is. All of South Katy is in KISD...North Katy is split between CFISD and KISD. South Katy happens to have notable neighborhoods such as Cinco Ranch, Nottingham Country, Kelliwood, etc. There are lots of beautiful homes in South Katy...normally priced at $70-80sqft...compared to $50-60 a sqft in North Katy, Cypress area.
North Katy tends to have a lower price range overall as well. There are not a lot of high priced listings...over $200K in North Katy....but in South Katy.....that is the average price range..especially in areas such as Nottingham Country, Cinco Ranch and Seven Meadows. in these areas even homes in the $300-600K range area not that uncommon..and many are on the market right now. In the North Katy,Cypress area you have to go to Neighbhorhoods near 290 for that price range......Blackhorse Ranch and Bridgleland come to mind
Either way ...if you choose South Katy, North Katy ,or Cypress...you will have good schools lots of shopping opportunities and a safe neighborhood to raise your children
