Señor Short Sale Says......
"Let's Get Ready to Rumble!"
In a heartwarming story ripped from the headlines here's one to give us hope. Zeenat Ali is locked in what would appear to be an epic battle against Deutsche Bank and two other companies. She is fighting on behalf of her parents who have owned their Diamond Bar home for 24 years. She is trying to reclaim title after Deutsche Bank along with two other financial firms Downey Savings and Central Mortgage Co. foreclosed on them and are attempting to evict them.
She herself has dropped out of medical school so she can devote herself fulltime to the case. So far she has spent half a year litigating in federal and state courts on her own without a lawyer. She does not have any formal legal training. So far she is doing very well. Ali has used online legal filings as models and has put off eviction; and has even won some judgments that have enabled her to get $1.7 billion from Deutsche Bank and the other two companies involved. Ali accuses them of fraud and botching foreclosure paperwork as well as violating laws that require lenders to look at alternatives before they evict borrowers.
Ali's successes are mainly procedural. Experts say she doesn't have much chance of winning a large reward; and her parents most likely will lose their home. Yet many have been impressed by her smarts and tenacity. The banks have learned not to take her lightly. You may be asking how?
