Steven,

Even though I enjoy Colorado very much, no decent Southern Gentleman from Myrtle Beach, SC is going to let you get away with that. You need to check this out...this is what we call Beach Music- our Official State Dance is called the Shag...General Johnson and the Chairman of the Board released this in 1980:

I guess you'll have to copy and paste the link. I couldn't get it to link to the site.

Wait a minute. I'm from NC and I know Carolina girls too. I married a New England girl but that's another topic. I think Carolina (southern girls in general) are great but I do have a few issues with them.

Shag the movie was awesome. (my roomate was in the movie and was the shag instructor for the flick.) He was at the time the hottest shagger on the strip. National Champ! Good stuff you just brought back a lot of memories. I was a lifeguard in MB for years when I was a young man so I know the drill. I like it.

Steven,

Thanks for the reply. It's a small world isn't it? We still have the SOS (Society of Stranders) here twice a year for their get togethers. They just tore down the old "Studebakers" club if you're familiar with that. It was an icon for many years. Myrtle Beach has really changed in the last 10 years.

An ex-lifeguard in MB. I bet you have some great stories.

Yes almost 6 full smmers of guarding on the beach there and a lot of great memories which most have faded through the years to be honest. It holds a special spot in my heart for sure.

I cannot believe Studebakers is gone. So sad. My grandparents partied there. I'm 42.

Last time I was there was during one of the bike weeks and I was so sad to see the town turned upside down I've never returned. That was about 12 years ago. All the new buildings and beach areas are all so diferent now.
