We Have an App for That...
Gosh, it seems as if these smart phones are getting smarter than I am. If you are like me, you often run into situations where you need to send someone a file that is on your laptop, and you are nowhere near a hot spot. There is an app for Droids that tethers the phone to the laptop allowing you to use the 3G connection on your phone to access the internet.
The best one that I have found so far is PDANET. The app can be used for iPhones, Droids, Blackberries and covers both MAC OSX and PC platforms.
PDANET comes with a full featured trial version, which can be still be used even after the trial expires. The license can be purchased for a scant $18.95.
Their easy to follow installation instructions are so simple that even the most technically challenged, will be able to have the system working in no time. It is kinda nice to be able to sit in a Starbucs, write a post, and not have to log onto or pay for the use of their service...

Michael - I tried PDANET but had a few problems. I found that EasyTether works for me with my Evo.
Gordon, good to know. I do not have an EVO, so it might be something with the hardware/software. I will check this out. Thanks...
Now that's a useful tool. I try my best to stay off my computer when I out of the office. I started watching my time, and It's mostly spent in front of a screen.
i used to use PDAnet with my Palm. It worked quite well. Be careful how much you use it because your cell phone service provider may flag you for violating the TOS if their computers find you are using a lot of bandwidth. Just be prudent about how much you use it and you will be fine.
Michael, if you do this do you have to pay for air time through the cell phone providor.
My phone is as basic as it gets, and I can still barely deal with screwing around with it. Half the time the keys stick together.
Hi Michael, This is an app I can use. Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out :) jay
Damon, thanks for the "heads up". I use it as a back-up when I need to send a report that someone did not get. Although I do have unlimited usage of the Internet through my phone, it does come in handy in places where you either have to pay, or cannot get a connection...
