In Memory of Our Friend, Laurie Manny

Real Estate Agent with Fathom Realty West Sound WA State 52404

laurie-mannyToday I received the very sad news that ActiveRain veteran Laurie Manny was found dead in her home in Southern California.

Laurie was one of the more prolific writers on ActiveRain and was instrumental in it's rapid growth and success in the early days of it's inception.

Laurie served as one of the first volunteer moderators along with Mark Flanders and Colleen Kulikowski, and was responsible for featuring member articles on the blog dashboard, and providing development suggestions to the ActiveRain staff.

Laurie was a pioneer in social media circles and was one of the first real estate professionals to effectively incorporate blogging into her marketing efforts. She understood SEO and how hyper-local content could be leveraged to generate business leads and foster relationships with her readers.

This network owes much of its success to the valued contributions of Laurie Manny. Her expertise, humor, and friendship will be sorely missed!

This is so very sad. She was such an inspiration to us. Tough cookie and all, we learned so much from her. She will be truly missed. My heart goes out to her family.

Laurie signed up about 15 days before I did on Activerain and was a great writer and will be greatly missed here in the rain as well in Long Beach.

How very sad. Jay and I were lucky enough to finially meet Laurie IRL last year in Long Beach. She was so vibrant and full of life. I can't believe she is no longer with us.

Rich,

This was such a stunning thing to hear.  Those of us who have been here in the Rain since the early days can really relate with what you have said. Those relationships that were forged back then were some very meaningful ones indeed.  We will miss Laurie and her absolute willingness to lend a helping hand to others.  She was one very special lady.  We are all going to miss her presence here.  Thank you for putting up this tribute to her.  We know she loved and respected you too.  She was a part of this AR family and will be so sadly missed.  Thoughts and prayers go out to her loved ones.

Wow, I am speechless. Prayers to her family and friends, I read a tone of her blogs, never knew her in any other way, but she sure knew her stuff! Tragic~

When I read the news about Laurie my heart totally dropped. She was bright, beautiful, full of energy and humor. It really hits home just how mortal we all are to hear of such tragedy within our own community.

Laurie will live on in our hearts and within her writings.

We will miss you Laurie,

Deb

I didn't know Laurie and regret that now I will only get to know her through her writings.  From reading all the comments she will surely be missed.  What a waste to lose someone because of salmonella poisoning way before their time to leave us.  Thoughts and prayers to her family.

I actually learned about this on Inman News.  The article said she was sick with flu-like or samonella poisoning type symptoms and didn't go to the ER because she lacked medical insurance.  I wonder how many other real estate agents are in the same situation.  I'm sad about Laurie and sad for all the real estate agents in the same situation.  This is not just a loss of a amazing AR person, it's a tragedy and shows how vulnerable so many of us are.

Thank you for sharing. It is a personal loss and difficult to deal with now. I hope others go read and learn and then remember. Laurie is gone but thankfully, her advice, instruction and words live on.

Rich: I don't know if you remember me, but I was here back when we were much, much smaller. Yesterday, I decided I needed to get back in and was floored to read of Laurie's death. As one of the very best of the early bloggers on A/R, her presence was vibrant and always insightful. She will be missed!

What a shock!  I knew Laurie for several years and eventually wound up working for her briefly as a buyer's agent.  She was the "most unforgettable character I have ever met!"  Nobody like her.  I will miss her and my condolences and prayers go out to her family.  Dare I say, wherever she is, she is making an impact!Love you, Laurie.
