I CHALLENGE Other Realtors to LOOK at your actual sales numbers

Front Page - yesterdays paper - HOME SALES CRATER AS GOVERNMENT STIMULUS DRIES UP - then, next to it in RED - Real Estate market remains sluggish in West Hawaii- and I am sitting there thinking - WHAT? - did I just wake up from a daydream, is this really not one of my best years yet? All these reports I follow - were they not real - then I remembered - OH YA - Our local press loves to spread doom and gloom, in fact one of my last disagreements with them was horrendous - FRONT page claims more gloom and doom, Island Real Estate continues to DECLINE!!!i am with a client who sees the headlines as we are walking through the lobby of the hotel we are in, and just so happens to postpone purchasing any properties at this time, now I am not talking island wide - the big island is huge with many little towns, but I am talking about West Hawaii - and the newspaper's name is West Hawaii Today - so why would they mislead you - IT SELLS PAPERS ! The agent they interviewed for the article - SOLD 1 Home in Hawaii in the last 5 YEARS - Honest to god, I couldn't make this stuff up.

Sorry - back on track here - I challeng you guys to take a look at your August 2010, 2009, 2008 sold - homes - and post them below. I want to see if this is just the "Tail wagging the dog" or are you guys seeing an increase like West Hawaii is?

All information below is pulled from the Hawaii MLS and is readily available to the media - if they choose to confirm their facts before telling 31,000 + readers that we are sluggish!

Fact: 2010 home sales- August - surpassed 2009 already - still 5 days left to report

Fact: 2010 home sales- August - surpassed 2008 - remember we still ahve 5 more days of reporting

Fact: Year to Date Home Sales - UP 45.56%

Fact: Year to Date Land Sales - UP 93%

Fact: Year to Date Condo Sales - UP 98%

Fact: Year to Date Commercial Sales - UP 150%

So humor me America - please let me know where your area stands - not what the media is telling you - but black and white numbers - where are you at.

Good for you Lance.  I hear negative press all day long where I sell and the last two years in sales have been awesome for me... I think it is all localized and a case by case thing.  Our market is up!  Our sales are up, some of the market are down on pricing, however, lakefronts are up on pricing.  It depends on where you sit in the market and your reality.  I disagree with the Realtors in my area that keep saying it is doom and gloom... Our team is moving normal sales and high end sales and yes, distressed sales, but it is moving forward at a very blessed rate.
