Welcome to the United States: The View From Up North

By
Home Inspector with King of the House Home Inspection, Inc. Home Inspector Lic #207

I have lived on the Canadian border for my whole life. I take it for granted that everyone knows all about crossing the border at Canada and the Peace Arch, etc. Fact is, I even run into people from Seattle, or Bellingham for that matter, who have never, or rarely, travel north.

I do many home inspections in Point Roberts, a US enclave that requires going through Canada. When you come back into the US, Canada side, there is quite a cool wooden sign. I realized that probably most people have never seen it. I see it about every week.

Steven:  Thank you for sharing the photo of that sign.  I am Canadian living in the U.S. and have travelled the boarders for years but have not in the west.  That sign looks so nice and small town America in feel, it's great.  Cheers!

Steven - That is one of the nicest "Welcome to America" signs I have seen at the border crossings I have used.

I've not only never seen the sign, but until your posts about that city where you go into Canada to return to the US I would have not known that was necessary!

Nice looking sign. Do you need a passport to cross back and forth?

Cool sign! I lived in Winnipeg all one summer (4 months)and I was so glad to get back across, I wanted to kiss the ground at the border crossing. I will never take it for granted that I live in an amazing country like no other.

Lizette,

The Vancouver area is real nice. Not so hot on the prairies.

It is a really cool sign. The picture isn't one I've seen before despite numerous trips outside the US.
