2012 Can-Am Police and Fire Games in Saint Cloud Minnesota
Saint Cloud is honored to have been given the approval to host the 2012 Can-Am Police and Fire Games, a world-class athletic competition. Lots of cities compete to be able to hold this event as it has many far reaching benefits to the community.
The Can-Am Games were originally started as the Northwest Police-Fire Games. Officials from Washington and Oregon got together with a Police-Fire sports group located out of Western Canada and joined forces to begin a multi-sport event for the local Firefighters and Police Officers to compete together.
From 1977 to 1996 the Can-Am Games were held every year, since the completion of the 1996 competition the Can-Am Games have been held every other year. This year the Can-Am Games were held in Dublin, Ohio from August 15 - 22nd. This is where it was announced that Saint Cloud was chosen to host the upcoming games in 2012.

As you can see from the long list of events the chosen city must be able to properly accommodate all of these events. If you have been reading my posts over the last several months, we have all of these necessary facilities and more. So I am curious to find out which of the other optional Can-Am Games events we will be able to enjoy too. For a full list of optional events for the 2012 Can-Am Games check out the link to the Future Can-Am Games here.
If you think that your city would be a great place to hold the games there are several requirements that must be met, and the city is to attend the previous 2 games before they will be able to be awarded the honor of hosting the Games and it's participants, our brave men and women who put out fires and serve and protect us everyday.
