Dear AR Newbies: A Letter From a Backdoor Ambassador (30DC3)
First let me start by saying Welcome to ActiveRain. If you ask me, ActiveRain has got to be the most valuable real estate resource at our disposal. Right here, you're in the company of some of the most knowledgeable people in the business. The expertise runs the gamut here to include, but not limited to: real estate agents and brokers, mortgage loan officers and brokers, home inspectors, attorneys, title company representatives, appraisers. You name it. Every possible field that you are likely to encounter in your real estate career is right here: congregating in the Rain.
What's All of This Fuss About ActiveRain?
This is probably the question that lead you here in the first place. What's all the fuss about? I know, I know. You didn't expect to be so heavily engrossed in reading people's post and comments that you can't drag yourself away from your laptop to..... you know, GET SOME WORK DONE. If you are anything like I was, my mind was going "Oh My God. This is GREAT!!!!! You quickly found out that all the fuss was about people just like you were talking about real estate. People are sharing what they know and the experiences that they've had. Got a question that's been bugging you? Just keeping hanging out here. You'll find the answer. Or better yet, just ask somebody. After I got a little comfortable (some may say cocky), I opened my big mouth and wrote a post.
You've Joined So Now What?
You don't have to tell me, I already know that you're asking yourself the same thing: What do I do now that I've joined. You're probably asking yourself what you should write about or if you should write anything at all. I know you're a little anxious especially if you haven't been in the business as long as some of the veterans that hang out here. But don't be intimidated by that. There are some people here that can recite real estate law (in their respective states) in their sleep and if you happen to say something that turns out not to be a fact, you're likely to be called on it. But don't let that scare you because most likely what you'll actually incur is someone's opinion that differs from your own so don't always mistake those opinions as statements of fact. And finally, whatever you do......
Don't Be Scurred!
Don't be scurred (a.k.a. scared) to write. We're only people (just like you). Trust me, chances are our BARK is MUCH bigger than a newborn baby's BITE. Hey, after all, we've got a reputation to live up to:-}. I know you want to write something and perhaps you're afraid that it will sound stupid or silly. But I wouldn't worry to much about that because even if you feel like being purposely silly, there's an app for that, but around here we call them (apps) GROUPS. Find a group where you'll fit. As a matter of fact, your first group should be AR Newbies. Just like the brokerage where you hang your license, before you signed on with a company, you had to make sure that you were a fit. Don't focus on what you don't know, just talk about what you do know.
If All Else Fails
If you're still a little apprehensive, call on one of ActiveRain's designated Ambassadors. You'll recognize them by the AR badge with a star and the big ole word AMBASSADOR under their names. And if all else, fails you can call on me: Your Backdoor Ambassador (BTW that's code for: I don't have a star but I'm still willing to help). I'll be glad to help if I can. One thing about me; I can admit when I don't know something, but chances are if I don't have an answer, I can point you in the right direction.
Once again, welcome to ActiveRain. Don't forget to have fun.
Sincerely,
Charita H. Cadenhead, Your Backdoor
