Today, August 27 2010, Google launched another killer free application - free US phone calling via Gmail.
This goes beyond their original ability to voice chat with other users since this will let you dial outbound calls!
I immediately downloaded it and dug out an older headset to test it out. I already had a Google Voice number assigned (a local exchange number) so it used it. This will be a great tool for Realtors since you can use a Google Voice number, use this service from your computer and have access anywhere you have a PC without running up your cell bills or giving out your home phone number when calling from there.

I think Google will definitely give Skype a run for their money since you can call any including cell phones and land lines with this service. I bet Skype wishes they had already rolled out their public offering of their stock prior to this release.
I am not sure why Google decided to show the $10 in the call window of their download since you can call any phone in the US and Canada for free. Their international calls are extremely cheap.
I had a friend try to convince me to join ACN for their video conferencing and cheap calls and I said why would I want to buy a video phone for hundreds of dollars and subscribe when I can log in with a web cam and do it for free? Um, er, eh, = no sale!
I will need to add this to all my agents accounts here in Boise, Idaho at Progressive Realty Corporation. Please post replies as to how you might plan on implementing this new tool in your real estate business.
