It's been a long time coming, but finally Chalmette in St. Bernard Parish (one of the hardest hit Katrina areas) has a movie theater of its own for the first time since the storm. Chalmette Movies opened over the summer and not only does it carry the latest releases, but also one or two films at a time aimed at the art house crowd and film connoisseur. These are movies we don't often find even in the city limits of New Orleans.

You can feel the difference it makes when the cinema is run by folks that are also fans of both movies and the cinema experience. We're happy to drive the extra miles to support this fine local business (and the fantastic restaurants that surround it). Congratulations to principal Ellis Fortinberry and his colleagues. Chalmette Movies is becoming a weekly thing for us! Click the logo to visit their Website, or of course you can find them on Facebook as well.
