In football, there's the Super Bowl.  In Baseball, there's the World Series.  But for high school bands, there's the Bands of America Championship.  This is BIG, really BIG, for high school bands across America.

Here in Hemet California our West Valley High School, sees as an even a bigger deal. West Valley High School has been chosen as the site for the Southern California and Southwest regional championship on October 23rd..

Earlier this year, T. J. Hepburn, the school's band director received a contact from officials for Bands of America.  Turns out that they  saw the school's Website. On the site, they saw the aerial photograph of the school itself.  Seems this school site would be perfect for the competition.

Wow, what an honor, not only to be the chosen site, but to also be one of the bands chosen for the competition. And, for Hepburn and the West Valley band, there may be some level of pressure.  They will want not only be the host for the competition, wanting their facility to be really shining and sparkling, but also the band will be competing.

West Valley marching band had its first appearance in Bands of America last year and placed 28th out of 30.

So, when you see all those busses coming into Hemet on October 23rd, keep your fingers crossed for West Valley High School's Marching Band.  We wish them the best.
