I Love Mentoring, But Where Are My Mentees?
This Duluth, GA home stager has always enjoyed mentoring. There's just something about bringing someone else along that feels good. It's fun to have others look to me for the answers to their questions.
I really am not a killer blogger. I started on AR in 2008, then stopped, then started back. I've learned a lot along the way and definitely know more now than I did two years ago, so I have been offering my help to friends who are interested in blogging on AR. So far I've had three take me up on my offer. I decided today to check up on them to see how things are going.
Case Study #1: "Diane" is an agent I've known casually through her RE company for a couple of years. Around the first of this year I ran into her at a social media seminar. We got to talking about blogging and SEO and the conversation ended up with ActiveRain. I explained to her that, while I was not an expert, I would be happy to teach her the basics. She was excited and we met a couple of weeks later. Update: She h
as written one post to date (in April) and currently has 4,931 points.
Case Study #2: "Sarah" is another agent I met early this year through networking. She and I have become fast friends. Every once in a while we get around to discussing websites and blogging. I offered to help her get acclimated to AR and she accepted. We met for a couple of hours at my home several months ago where I explained the basics to her. Update: Sarah has written 2 posts - one in June and one in August - and has 2,067 points currently.
Case Study #3: "Judy" is another agent who is a long time friend. She and I get together as frequently as possible to di
scuss our families, real estate and home staging. She is currently trying to get a handle on websites and SEO. I offered to help her with Active Rain. She accepted and came over yesterday for a couple of hours. Update: She tried to post her first blog today but had problems uploading photos. She said the whole thing was a "bust."
While I still enjoy mentoring, I'm beginning to wonder if maybe my technique isn't a little off.
