Knowing the zoning of the location you are considering as well as the surrounding areas is not always on the top of a residential buyer's mind, but it is worthwhile to consider.
The City of Lake Charles makes it quite easy to determine the zoning of property via the zoning map that is posted on-line. You can access it right here or follow these steps:
log on to the city website, CityOfLakeCharles.com- click on the "Departments" tab
- click on the "planning and development," option
- click on the "City Wide Zoning Map"
- click on the PDF
At first glance the map appears difficult to read. To enlarge, simply click on the option on the toolbar near the middle and increase to a comfortable size.
