North Carolina, Meet Earl. Hurricane Earl, that is.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Realty Arts NC Broker License #235526

All the NOAA tracks show Hurricane Earl approaching land much closer than Danielle did.

And Earl is a powerful Category 4 storm, having pounded Puerto Rico with 125 MPH winds today.

The current worst-case storm track shows possible landfall near Cape Point on Hatteras Island, and even crossing the Pamlico Sound.  That track would bring significant impact to the Raleigh Cary NC area, as well as most of Downeast North Carolina.

NOAA offers pretty good tracking of hurricanes, and is even warning us about Hurricane Fiona, which is expected to follow Earl fairly closely, albeit a little further east.  No guarantees.

So, get down to the Food Lion.  Fill the car with potted meat, toilet paper, beer, bread, and take other usual precautions.  Really, nothing to be taken lightly here.

The watch is on, all the way up here to New England... Lets hope for a front to push it back out to sea for the fishes.

Scott,

Yes.  I posted this to Localism, North Carolina, but the projected track shows possible impact all along the East Coast from MidAtlantic to New England.

Richard,

There is an old saying:  "Be careful what you ask for.  You just might get it."

And it applies, in spades!

I hope this blows over (hahaha no pun intended) in the next week - I really don't want to fly into Jacksonville during a huge storm!

Glad to see you put beer on as one of the "usual precautions" Mike! Just in case I lose power, I know who's house I'm heading to!

Jo,

I hope it blows over too, although an inch of rain would be welcome.  If Earl was only of a mind to heed requests on details!

Craig,

Puzzliing to me that it could possibly NOT make the list.  What are people thinking?
