My life as a Realtor often takes me to traveling along some of the many back roads in Calhoun County, Michigan. I have had many an adventure, my GPS and I as we fly along trying to get from house to house to show, photograph or inspect for a client.
Back roads in Calhoun County, Michigan come loaded with everyone's favorite: The pot hole! Yes sir! We have some big ones out there in the country. Some you could drop a VW Beetle into, and then drive right on over it.
I liken traveling down some of these back roads in Calhoun County, Michigan to the final approach over Bremen in the movie ‘Memphis Bell' if you ever saw this one. Your van is banging all over the place, your signs in the back are rattling, and your GPS is swinging and giving you directions as you try to catch calls between gaps in rural coverage.
No story about back roads in Calhoun County, Michigan would be complete without a little mention of the encounters with wildlife. Just the other night, I nearly hit a momma deer, and two babies as they jay walked in front of me. A little later on down the road, there were two more.
I have seen many kinds of creatures crossing the road, some I was able to identify and others I could not. I have seen turtles, snakes, rabbits, chickens, turkey and many, many deer. I even had to wait once when several cows decided it was time to cross the road. You also see much wildlife off the side of the road, and even some interesting farm life as well.
So is it always an adventure in the country traveling along back roads in Calhoun County, Michigan. The trees canopy the roads, and shadow the potholes, which always makes life exciting!
However, as a Realtor, I enjoy selling rural property, and with the USDA Rural Development housing loan offering 100% financing to first time home buyers, I think I will continue to travel the rural back roads in Calhoun County, Michigan. Some are smooth, and some are rough, but selling houses is never easy.
