BDAMB from BHAM's Weekly Top Tips for Active Rain Newbies (30DC9)

With so much going on in the Rain, newcomers are often torn between writing about their experiences, understanding SEO, reading post and commenting.  But before you can do any of that, you've got to figure out the logistics of the AR blogging Platform.

I highlighted the Top Tips from the post of other members so far this week as a way for Newbies (and some Oldbies as Karen Anne Stone calls them) to get acclaimated to ActiveRain.   This should ease the feeling of being so overwhelmed.  Now you've got purpose:  learn the neighbor before you jump right in with no purpose at all. These tips should help defuse some of the angst before you attempt to leap into the shark pool.  Consider these post sort of like warm up exercises for Newibies or like getting your feet wet until you learn how to swim (faster than sharks).

Let's Get Blogging -- 101 Ideas for Your Blog:  The #1 question on the minds of Newbies is "What the heck am I going to write about?"  Well thanks to Kerry Lucasse you don't have to wonder any more.  As of this writing, she came up with 52 things to write about and I'm banking she'll get to 101 but for now, this should keep your little fingers pecking for the next 52 days.

That Tiny Little Blog Tab: Get More Wet in the Rain - Once you started reading the post of members, there will be some members that you're just fascinated with.  But you might be going through the post so quickly, you may forget how to get back to members that you consider to be among your favorites.  Well J Philip Faranda solved that problem for you so you'll know how to start your day by reading the post of your designated favs.

WHAT SIX MONTHS ON ACTIVE RAIN CAN DO FOR YOU Just so you won't feel like you're wasting your time by blogging, J Stepen Gregory shares how far he's come in just 6 months on Active Rain.  This should not only give you hope but help to set a blogging goal (choose your own time limit -- 3 months, 6 months, etc), but give it a real shot.

Want More Comments ? Using the Active Rain "Groups Feature" Will Really Help !  Let's face it, we'd all like to have people comment on our post.  Stated in good old Karen Anne fashions, she tell you just how to jumpstart that dialogue. Oh and one other thing you need to know about Karen Anne... she's a whipper snapper and you never, ever have to wonder where she's coming from.  She's a straight shooter.

And finally, straight from Comedy Central is:  Do you want a certain someone to comment on your blog? Just ASK!   by none other than AR's own Queen of Comedy Cynthia Larsen No explanation needed.  The title says it all.

Andrew that's exactly the point Barbara Todaro made the other day when she posted Blogging Is Necessary Today....What Happens To Those Who Cannot !!!!.

Thanks Dan, I appreciate it.

Liz you should see the one I got for the comic.

Liz you must have been born on stage with a microphone in your hand.  You are a natural comedian and I love the way you play with words.  Thanks for always injecting your appropriately placed humor.

Anita I hope so.  Heck I need them myself.

Charita, you forgot to mention Have Fun, I think it is important for newbies to understand they are supposed to be enjoying this AR experience. All too often I hear from newbies that they think blogging is going to be a chore, have a good time with it and you'll do it more often....have a great day
