My family and I were going out to dinner early this evening and were driving down Route 18 from Medina to Fairlawn and noticed some rather interesting business signs for little shops along side this busy, 4-lane, 55mph undivided highway:
While I couldn't get a pic of these signs (perhaps next time) as we were driving, I noticed three signs:
- It was a honky-tonk little place: Said "Nightly Dancers" and also "Rooms Available" -- Yowsa when you put the two of them together.
- Saw a newish retail, small strip building of probably 4-5 divided spaces -- nice stucco, warm paint colors, fresh, and almost entirely empty with big signs in all the windows except the one occupied space by Raymond James and the banners said: Free Rent for 2 years. I'm thinking, self, I'm moving my biz in there if it's free for two years. How in the world could that be and they make money? I would hate to see the fine print on this one. I wonder how old Raymond James feels paying rent when this sign came up, or perhaps that is why they are there.
- Three signs stacked on top of each other: Truck driving school, then Massage Classes, and lastly, Medical Assistant. We all got a chuckle and surmised: Perhaps the trucker on the road has a sore back, so the truck driver school owner's wife got a book "Massage for Dummies" and opened a new business, train em, then massage em when they come back. When the masseuse then screwed up the trucker who could no longer drive, perhaps that when the medical assistant steps in. Perhaps in a few more months, there will be a legal aid services clinic if the trucker goes on disability.
Life is indeed stranger than fiction.
