Looking for a fun and easy way to re-connect with past clients?

I love to get in touch with past clients and friends from way back.  Facebook has made that easier than ever but in a way, it has also de-personalized it.  I mean, with one click, we can wish someone a happy birthday, tell them we "like" their photo or status, or even poke them!

Another option we have to reconnect is the old fashioned phone call but then you need to have something to call about.  Nobody wants to be the irritating sales person who calls with the impersonal "Hi!  How are you, how's your family, know anyone who wants to buy or sale a house?"...blah, blah, blah.

A third "old school" idea is the greeting card...again, some people love the cards and work them, but they are not real personal or creative.

So, what do we do? Well, my daughter who is in 5th grade came home from her first day of school with a zip lock baggy full of goodies and the following note.  When I saw it, a light bulb went off in my head and I thought surely this can be modified to fit the real estate industry and used as a fun way to say Howdy without being annoying!

Here is the note: (the bag was filled with one of each of the items mentioned)

Welcome Back!

  • Sharp Pencil...to get us all pointed in the right direction
  • Bookmark...we will be reading lots of good books
  • Cotton Ball...reminds you that this fifth grade classroom is full of kind words and good feelings
  • toothpick...reminds you to pick out good qualities in your classmates
  • eraser...reminds you that we all make mistakes and its ok
  • band-aid...reminds you to heal hurt feelings in your classmates and in yourself
  • roll of smarties...you are special and I know you will achieve a lot in fifth grade
  • sticker...reminds you that we must all stick together and help each other
  • life saver...reminds you that you can come to me if you need someone to talk to
  • yellow ribbon...reminds us that friendship ties us all together

We will have a super year! Mrs. Doyle, Miss Kilchrist, and Ms. Sierra

I thought this was awesome (as did my daughter, who quickly informed me that she had already finished the smarties and life-saver).  I changed some of the items and modified the wording...but here is what I came up with.

Howdy!

  • Sharp Pencil - to help you get started checking off your Fall to-do list
  • Bookmark - to remind you to always make time for a good book
  • Smarties - because I think you are super smart
  • Mounds - because its okay to be a little nutty sometimes
  • Kit-Kat - because we all deserve a break
  • band-aid - to remind you take care of your boo-boos
  • sticker - because we all need to stick together
  • sugar cookie - because life is sweet but it never hurts to add a little sugar on top

I just thought I would drop off this bag of goodies to brighten up your day!

Jeanna

Well, I'm going to give it a shot, I am going to start making some of these goody bags and deliver them to my "sphere" and past clients.

What do you think?

Brian Buffini calls these "pop-by's". Stopping by a house with an item of value has been the meat and potatoes of my business. Good luck with your goody bag.

Very unique, nice touch.  The best part is you touched your clients and made them smile, we all want that when we are just following up.  May it pay off for you soon!
