Fairfield New Jersey Public School District Makes Some Changes

Fairfield New Jersey Public School StevensonThe Fairfield New Jersey Public School District will open their doors to its approximate 700 children the day after Labor Day. Last year Fairfield's Public Schools biggest changes were implementing an all day kindergarten program and Keeping the Nuts out of Fairfield Schools

One of the significant changes Fairfield students and their parents face this year are kindergartners being on the same bus with grades 1-3.  In the past and prior to changes and cuts in the budget for the 2010-2011 school year, kindergartners had their own bus.

Churchill Fairfield New Jersey Public SchoolI also believe the Fairfield Home and School Association will be implementing the electronic lunch program this school year which will replace the lunch card program.  Children will be required to memorize an assigned pin number when ordering lunch.  The lunch money will then be funded through an account setup with a third party.  Parents are charged a small fee to replenish the account.  Children also still have the option to pay for their lunch in cash but the four digit assigned pin will still be required for food tracking purposes.   This new lunch program was motioned and voted upon in the spring of 2010 at the Fairfield HSA's public meeting.

Having a 5th grader, a 2nd grader and my little guy starting kindergarten in the Fairfield Public Schools, I think the 4 digit pin will be more traumatizing to kindergartners than them having to ride the bus with the older kids.....then again may not!

In conjunction with the Fairfield HSA "going green" this year, a link for lunch menu for both Stevenson and Churchill schools is posted on the Fairfield Public School's WebsiteFairfield Nut Free School District
