This was a fun
park that had something for everyone. One
thing I liked about this park is there was an off leash area for dogs.
A lot of
people, despite their being a law against it, have their dogs off leash
in the
area parks and with kids around, you never know what can happen.

But, this park has plenty to do including tennis courts, playground equipments, soccer fields and access to the water for both boats and humans. Don’t forget fishing! During fishing season you can fish right off the dock or the shore. I’m not sure I would fish there and eat it, but still you can go fishing.

There are covered and uncovered picnic areas for you to enjoy a picnic lunch no matter what the weather. Now, I do have to say the reason we first discovered this park is because it is near my office and there was a Geocache nearby according to my iPhone.
Now, my eldest daughter and I didn’t find it the first time we were there, but we thought about the clue and figured out where it was on the way home. So, I brought the entire family back and sure enough, it was right where we thought it was. (Sorry, not giving it away) But, if you want to check it out, here is the Geocache’s webpage.

At this time we decided to venture a little farther in the park, as Willamette Park is pretty large. The nice thing about it for parents with children is that it has bathrooms! (A big plus) So we decided to walk and in our ventures south along the trail we found a surprise in a park that we didn’t know about. It was Butterfly Park and though it was a little late in the season and we didn’t see any butterflies, we do know this will be a stop for us next year with the camera.

But, don’t think that Butterfly
Park isn’t a place you can
go all year round, there is still plenty to see and if you
are a Geocacher I
have an added bonus for you, yet another Geocache.
So if you are looking for
some fun in a park with plenty to do for kids and if you want to get
started in
Geocaching, then I suggest you check out both Willamette Park and
Butterfly
Park in Portland, Oregon.
The only real drawback I
can see to these parks is that you
do have to pay to park. Now, this can be inconvenient, but
it does help pay for
the upkeep of the park. But, if you plan to go to this park a lot, you
can buy
an annual pass through the parks department.
