What would you do to watch a football game?

By

20 consecutive weeks of football is about to begin. There are 17 weeks of regular season games.  Then there is the wild card weekend, divisional playoffs and then the conference championships on January 23. That adds up to 20 weeks.

So if you're a football fan, what would be willing to do to to earn the right to watch the current weekend's games on television?  If you are in love with a football fan, what would you suggest that he or she do to get their "ticket" for the week?

How about one or more goals from this list:

  • Blog three times per week or maybe earn 1000 points
  • Make a certain number of follow up calls each week to past clients
  • Run or walk 5 miles during the week
  • Lose one pound of weight (20# in 20 weeks!!)
  • Spend 3 hours (1/2 hour per day X 6) reading
  • Do dishes at least three days during the week
  • Be at least 5 minutes early for every appointment during the week
  • Specific time limit for watching mindless television
  • Have at least one business lunch with a client or potential client during the week
  • Set aside the time for a family game night each week
  • Spend a specific amount of time weekly learning some important software
  • Do volunteer work for a church, school or non-profit organization
  • Or (fill in the blank).....

Note that most of the above involve repeated actions throughout the week that lead to the reward (the game.)  Life is like that.  You sow, you water and then you reap.

Everybody's challenges and goals are different.  Maybe football is not the right motivator.  Maybe it is something else.  Maybe just hitting the target is motivation enough.  In any case the first of the month is a good time to reflect on the coming month and building habits to achieve goals that can benefit you and the people around you.

PS - Nobody would really give up a football game to keep them in line with their goals would they?

I do most of this list every week.   Wish that weight would disappear, but most of the list gets done weekly, so Sunday or Monday is good for football - GO BRONCOS!

Harry -  don't forget there are also Thursday games.

Phil - Yes, good point.  Spoken like a true football fan

Joan - At least when you walk around Colorado you are likely going uphill or downhill, puff, puff with a little less oxygen available than those of us get at lower elevations.

Very nice goals.  And some I should think about....especially the learning about software.  Otherwise, I think I have most of the rest covered.  (I read at least eight hours a week for pleasure.  Right now, Anna Karenina, and I handwash dishes at least 15 times a week.....!!)

Well since God is in Heaven and Brett Favre is back with the Vikings all is right in the world. :) I am hoping to actually see him in person this year since I didn't get to last year and I would expect this is his final year. (I saw him many times in a Packer jersey but that doesn't count). So, I would do many of the things above to earn the ticket since I do many anyway and the tickets are expensive!

Suzanne - 8 hours per week of reading??  Wow I am envious.  I was thinking of business related reading when I included that item.

Shar - I though Mr.Favre was going to retire.  It makes me feel good to see that us senior citizens can still do some useful things with our lives.
