Do you have a smoke alarm in your Attic?

This is a great reminder! Here in Atlanta, lately, we've had severe t-storms that sparked lightning strikes that started home fires, so having an alarm in the attic might have saved a house or two, or a life or two!

Short re post

Home fires can start anywhere. Most homes do not have smoke alarms in the attic. By the time your main floor smoke alarm sounds it could be too late!

DO YOU HAVE A SMOKE DETECTOR IN YOU ATTIC?

We have several Smoke alarms in our home but none in the attic so a electrical fire in our home went undetected until it was almost too late! We got the fire out but ten more minutes would have meant a huge loss.

Ruth,

FABULOUS Re-blog.  We had friends whose home was hit by lightening.  They had NO idea there house was on fire until the neighbors came pounding on the door, thank goodness.  The fire spread from the top down.  The good news is they all got out safely, but a fire alarm at $10 bucks would be invaluable!

All the best, Michelle

Thanks, Michelle,

There is a question from another AR indicating that these smoke alarms may not work in attic space, so guess we need to check with a handyman about this?
