I know summer is still here but we must start thinking about fall and winter.
We need to start getting our homes ready for winter. First step would be the contact your local heating & cooling company and book an appointment to have your furnace cleaned and to get your supply of filters. Then, if you haven't done this in a couple of years, book an appointment to have your ducts and chimney cleaned.
Next, don't do it just yet, wait until you don't need to use your air conditioning unit, clean it and then cover it with a piece of plywood for the winter.
I've noticed that some of the leaves are starting to fall, so get your eavestrough cleaned after all the leaves have fallen and to ensure that nothing is blocked - come Spring.
A good time to seed some grass before the winter, yes, I know, most people seed their lawns in the Spring but if you do it in the fall, the grass will root and then go dormant for the winter months and be nice and thick in the Spring. Plant those tulip bulbs - watch out for the squirrels. Trim your shrubs and cut off the dead branches on your trees.
If you like to decorate the outside of your home for the Christmas season, think about putting thoses
lights in September or October. Don't wait until its cold and then freeze your fingers.
Get ready - its coming!
