Don't miss Hendersonville NC's 64th Apple Festival Labor Day weekend 2010
It is that time of the year again. Labor Day in Hendersonville NC is always the Big Apple Festival Event. Did you know that North Carolina is ranked #7 in Apple Production? And that Henderson County produces 65% of all Apples grown in the state? That is a pretty good record.
The Apple Festival is in it's 64th year and that means they have it down to a science. This is one of the biggest events of the year and you will find everything related to apples, including some of the best home cooked food, of course with apples in it. There will be music and crafts and events going on all over the downtown area. Stores will be open so that everyone can see what a great collection of fine stores we have.
Start off this festival with the Kiwani's Breakfast, from 7 to 10 am on Friday. This will be held at the First Baptist Church at 4th Avenue and Church Street. It sounds like a great array of food for anyone's tastes. The Lion's Club will kick off Saturday's Events with a breakfast at the First Baptist Gym on the corner of Washington and Fourth Avenue, and Sunday the Breakfast with the Elks will be held at he Elk's Club 546 N. Justice Street. Start off right with a great breakfast and know that the money will be used for charitable needs in the area.
Opening Ceremonies for the 64th Annual Hendersonville Apple Festival will take place at the Old Historic Court House on Main Street, starting at 10:00 AM.
The Apple Recipe contest will also be held on Friday from 8:30 to 1:00, sponsored by the Henderson County Extension Office and NCAF.
The Apple Festival Street Fair will be held Friday through Sunday, from 10 AM until 8 PM, and Monday from 10 AM until 5 PM. Main Street will be closed off from top to bottom and you will find all of the fun there. Buy apples by the bag, or by the bushel. Growers will be scattered throughout Main Street, and you will find a large variety of them in any given spot.
The King Apple Festival Parade will be held on Monday at 2:30 PM. It will start at Five Points and the route will run down Main Street to Caswell Street.
