For residents living in incorporated Downers Grove the village is sponsoring Amnesty Day for garbage pick up the Week of September 27, 2010.
This excludes residents of multifamily dwellings and comercial properties.

The first 3 bags or cans must be tagged with a refuse sticker. The remaining items will be taken for free. They are not accepting appliances, tires, used motor oil or hazardous waste.
In anticiaption of Amnesty Day, Downers Grove is holding a recycling event on September 11, 2010 from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm.

The event will be held at the Belmont Train Station in parking lot H.
Items accepted are electronics, automotive size batteries, dressers, cribs, cell phones, ink cartridges and eye glasses. See the above link for more information.
