As Hurricane Ear comes closer to the Oater Banks, and the different areas start evacuating, I thought it would be a good fine for a refresher of what to do for any vacationers.

Here are a few tips.

 1) When they change it from a "watch" to a "warning", you have less than 24 hours.

 2) If you are not a resident, don't wait for the country make the evacuation mandatory. If they ar recommending it, then heed their advice.

 3) Follow the routes designated tour where you are staying.  If you're unsure which was to go, you can contact your rental company or the local fire dept.

Again, if you are vacationing ov the Outer Banks, do not try to ride out the stem. Go home a take care of gov property there.

I love your input and do wish the folks on the outerbanks well, hopefully all are ready by now. I sure hope no vactioners go just to "see" and get in the way. As a vetern of one huricane IKE, I am not looking forward to another, but when season rolled around got the kit all ready to go, two things you did not mention.

Take copies of all important papers,

If you have to leave take photos or better a vidio of your house, inside and out.
