Put world-renowned musical artists on a stage under a roof, invite people to bring blankets and picnic food to a grassy field, and put the venue amongst a beautiful wooded mountainside, and there's a recipe for a wonderful summer music series: the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival.
The Shenandoah Valley Music Festival, one of the Mid-Atlantic region's premiere outdoor concert series, is held in the secluded village of Orkney Springs, Virginia. A rustic, open-air pavilion on the grounds of a historic mineral springs spa and resort hotel, is home to all of the Festival's summer concerts. The Festival's main season includes eight to 10 evening concerts featuring symphonic - both pops and classical - folk, country, bluegrass, big band and an assortment of other genres. The concerts are held on select weekends throughout the summer. The performances feature many acclaimed regional and national artists. (History)There are still two concerts left this season, both this weekend. I'm heading to the Tom Cunningham Orchestra on Sunday - maybe I'll see you there! Saturday, September 4 @ 7:00 p.m. Cherryholmes Sunday, September 5 @ 7:00 p.m. The Tom Cunningham Orchestra
