The story of the great white heron and the fish goes like this: One day last week I was driving past a small lake here in Crystal Beach Florida when I spotted a great white heron that had caught a good size fish in the lake. Since my trusty camera is always at my side, I immediately pulled over and got out of the car.
Fish in beak, this great white heron flew up into one of the bushes adjacent to the lake. Not to be deterred, I proceeded cautiously toward the bird for a close-up.
Although I did indeed get my close-up shot of fish in beak, I guess it was too much for Mr. Heron (perhaps he thought I wanted his fish).
He dropped the fish into the water and it made a quick get-a-way! Sorry Mr. Heron!
