Wordless Wednesday:  This Old House

This morning, I tried very hard to get some information on this lovely old place in Harper's Ferry, West Virginia.  I was struck by the beautiful old stone.  And I think it sits on a major flood plane where two rivers converge, so my guess is that it has suvived quite a few floods in it's day.  And I really, really wanted to get inside.

If anyone knows anything about this lovely old lady, I'd love to know about it!

Oh, if walls could talk Pat, this one would be babbling. Can see why you want to get inside. Where exactly is it?

Can't you just hear the echoes of Paul Revere's horse pounding down the highway?  Hey, what the heck ... I'm from way out west - east ... is Las Vegas to me!

The picture does suggest its own past ... so if you can't find one - make one up - unless it's a disclosure item, who'll care .... and we will all be entertained by your sense of the area and your wit.  Thanks for sharing...

Patricia, Does the county records show who the owner is? I’d imagine someone has information on the house … what character … I am sure it has a lot of stories to tell!

That building is definitely in a flood zone - the whole lower town is.  I have some photos of that house from when I was down there in 2008.

What I love about the east coast is that your history is so much older than ours. If we have a home that is 100-150 years old we are fascinated by it. But, then I think about your history and know that there are many homes 300 years old and to me that is really just hard to think about what they have scene in our nations history and who could have been at that front door knocking during that time.
