If you are like me you like to do things yourself....Part of it comes from wanting to do a good job for my clients, the other is I'm the only one who thinks they can do it right..... Well putting my ego aside, the truth is not only can other members of my staff do what I do- but can even improve on what I do if given a chance!
Everyday there are "tasks" we all do to generate leads, provide great customer service, maintain websites etc..... But what if you couldn't do these for a day or a week or month or three months......What would happen to your business? What is you want to go on vacation? How many of you bring your laptop on your time off? - I know I'm guilty of this......
What we decided to do over the next 30 days is build a playbook. It is a step by step instruction manual on how we do our daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
We used publisher and the print screen button on our computer to provide step by step instruction with images that are labeled with notes and red arrows that walk someone through each step of a specific task. Each time we do a task we are recording each step. Yes it takes a few extra minutes to complete the task but we think the investment in time is well worth the effort. The test of the playbook is to give it to a friend or high school student and have them complete each one of the tasks without having to ask any questions. I'll keep you posted.
We than print, scan and email the "playbook" to each staff member, our employing broker, and head secretary. Now if something happens or if we want to take time off our business will not suffer.
