The Red Plate Tradition

By
Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty 442805 Ohio

This past year I learned of The Red Plate Tradition and I have been giving it as a wedding shower gift ever since.

Red Plate

The Red Plate was an honored tradition from the early American families and has been carried on for generations.  Back then, when someone deserved special recognition or attention, they were served on the 'red plate'.

The Red Plate Tradition is carried on today as a simple reminder of those who mean so much to us and that the events in their lives are meaningful to us.  Use the 'red plate' to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, praise a job well done, reward goals achieved, for special triumphs, good grades, promotions, when someone is feeling blue and just because your special.   And you can set the 'red plate' out for guests when they come for dinner to make them feel special too.

The Red Plate becomes cherished and passed from generation to generation with precious  memories etched into it.

The Red Plate makes a heartfelt gift and can be given for weddings, baby gifts and house warming gifts.

Red Plate Setting

I have only given the Red Plate as gift at wedding showers and along with the You are special red plate I add a dinner set of red plates so the couple can use them if they have more than one guest for dinner.

Here's a poem I made that I give with the Red Plates that I am sharing with all of you.

“Red Letter Day”

A “Red Letter Day” is any day of special significance.

May today be one of many “Red Letter Days” -   Times you’ll remember in so many ways.

These are the days you’ll think will never end – you’ll sing &; dance forever and a day!

And on these days of joy and celebration set out the “Red Letter Day” plates and honor the special people that you both are and the special people in your lives –

birthdays, promotions, holidays, anniversaries, guests that pop by &; just because moments

And as the years begin to pass on by and you find the two of you have grown to 3, 4 or more, set out the “Red Letter Day” plates for boo-boo’s, lost teeth and everything in between –

good grades, little league wins, wise choices, 1st crushes, home comings, moments that just need a hug and you are special days.

And if by chance life deals you disappointments and disagre ements, may they be few and far between.  Pull out the “Red Letter Day” plates as a gentle reminder of all the wonderful times that have come and gone, the ones that are yet to be and the blessings that are sure to

 flow your way.

And on the day you wake to find your home is the way you started – just the two of you.  Set your “Red Letter Day” plates and you’ll find that you’ve laughed and danced along the way, you’ve cried and held each other tight, you’ve brought love to each other and those around you and that this union the two of you are about to enter into has been Blessed indeed and no days will ever be the same for now they’re shared by two.

Cheers to one of many “Red Letter Days”!

Hello Christine ~ It doesn't have to be a wedding gift.  We didn't get one until our kids were toddlers. Now the red plate sits in the stack with our regular plates so we remember to use it.

I have a women's group over to my house for dinner every month, this would be a fun tradition to start there. Thanks for the story!
