Best chocolates in Boston and Metro West area

Where to get best chocolates in Boston? What is the sweetest little shop? You think it's Godiva? (In any big mall)? Do you think it's Lindt on Boylston st? These are great choices. Yet try something new, and feel you are a true Bostonian now - get your chocolate at Teuscher.

It's a cute little store, with lots of flower decorations inside, and Swiss Flag waving outside. It's VERY EASY TO MISS! Here's the address: 230 Newbury st, between Exeter and Fairfield st. It is one of those numerous little shops, on first floor of a brick row-house on famous Newbury st, where you go down a few steps. Hundreds of varieties of truffles, chocolate covered fruits and nuts, and other sweet creations, with unpronouceable Swiss names. Smell of Fresh Chocolate.

This is the most exclusive (as well as most expensive) chocolate you can get in Boston. Chocolates are flown in by airplane fresh every week from Switzerland, motherland of best chocolate in the world. (For the record: Lindt, also a Swiss chocolate brand, PRODUCES their chocolates here in the US. And, unfortunately, it's not the same thing. The real thing is sold in Switzerland only...)

Chocolates can be packaged in cutest little, medium or or humongous boxes, gift wrapped, ribbon ornated and double packaged if Boston weather is not cooperating. (Try to bring home a wonderfullly decorated velvet heart box on a Valentines' Day when it's raining AND snowing like crazy?... Ah, Boston weather needs you to be  prepared for the worst at all times!)tescher chocolates valentines heart box

Chocolates are expensive - I know I'm repeating myself. You can buy the sweets by the piece. One truffle From Teuscher will cost as much as a box of "kisses" from CVS. But - the taste can not compare. At least to chocolate lovers and connoisseurs.

If you ever go there - at least try the brands' specialty: Champagne Truffle, it has a creamied infusion of Dom Perignon Champagne inside - hence the name. (But don't worry, there is no notable alcohol content in this truffle, unlike in a "liquer ball" - another sweet temptation)

These are the best. Period.

I used to live dangerously close to this store, and spend quite a lot of money there. I have moved farther out west since, but my strong bond with Teuscher Chocolates stayed the same. Now a friendly UPS guy leaves boxes on my porch. Yes! They can be shipped anywhere in US! And now, many of my friends know what they will get for their Birthdays, Anniversaries and other occasions - chocolates. it's an easy way to choose a great present, that your friends, family or coworkers will be looking for to receive time and time again.

So, think about it. Especially if you are a busy real estate agent, who can hardly find time to go shopping for presents, yet needs to get something nice for everyone during a Big Holiday. At least those with a sweet tooth can be taken care of! Keep this in mind.

Google teuscher Chocolates Boston, and go from there.

Hi Anna - Your description of the chocolates at Teuscher Chocolates makes me wish I had heard about the store prior to my recent visit to Boston.

Anna.....chocolates are a great gift.....I always put truffles in Christmas baskets that I have made for my builders at Christmas.....I'll have to remember to ship to other clients....that's a great thought.

Hi there my friend from Canada - hope you enjoyed your stay in Boston. See, since *I* know about this store, I thought everybody else does as well, but when several people mentioned they never heard of it (and they 've lived in Boston quite a while) - I thought it's worth blogging about.

Next time you are in the area - try these out!

Barbara, shipping is so covenient! I have a friend, who loves chocolate covered ginger from Teuscher, and guess what she gets for her birthday every year :) You might want to call them when you order first time, so that they explain what is what. What I found MOST convenient is that you can place your order in advance, and specify shipping date (for example, order today, Sept. 2nd, to be received Sept 25th). I might have a free minute today, but who knows what happens on 22nd or so...

Anna:  Chapaigne Truffle sounds wonderful!  I'll look them up on the Internet.  Good Quality is so much better than the run of the mill!

Jane, you'll be so glad if you try them! Teuscher is a franchise, with about a dozen locations in the US. There's certainly one store in CA. Not all of them ship though, but if you happen to be nearby - champagne truffle is worth a try...

Hi Sharon, i love this store because it fits well into a Newbury street stroll. You peak in a store or two, you have a nice lunch, then get a truffle and settle in for a coffee... The store is across the street from Scoozi - great place as well, maybe I should write about it too...
