By
Real Estate Agent with BHG The Masiello Group

NEW HAMPSHIRE IS KNOWN AS THE GRANITE STATE

THIS WEEKEND I HAD TO WAIT FOR ONE OF MY CLIENTS WHO WAS

RUNNING BEHIND SCHEDULE

I DECIDED TO TAKE A LITTLE A TOUR AROUND HILLSBOROUGH, NH

AND I CAME UPON THIS AMAZING TREE

I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF TREE IT IS (SORT OF LOOKS LIKE A BIRCH BUT TRUNK IS SO WIDE)

IT WAS STRONG AND CONFIDENT

THE TREE JUTTED RIGHT UP THROUGH THE GRANITE

IT IS OBVIOUS WHY NEW HAMPSHIRE IS KNOWN AS THE GRANITE STATE

AND THIS TREE TRULY EPITOMIZES THE "LIVE FREE OR DIE SPIRIT"

OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

New Hampshire the Granite State

Discover the New Hampshire Advantage.  New Hampshire was chosen as the Most Livable State in America! The Safest State in America, 2010. and the Fifth Healthiest State in America!

That is a solid looking tree.  I think it is some sort of Birch tree by the white bark on it.  Around here the weeping birch trees are the prettiest trees in town.

Sonja ~  I like that... "bloom where you are planted".  This was the first time I had ever seen a tree growing up through the granite!  I had to stop the car and take a photo of it!

Robert ~  The white bark makes me think it is a birch... however, most I see have a much smaller trunk and are more weeping like the ones you have described!  This tree certainly isn't going anywhere.

Amazing that a tree can be so strong in stone.  Excellent reminder how we need to become strong and embedded with our principles and beliefs.

Until you pointed it out I thought, huh, it's nothing special.  But it certainly is.  The granite must have somehow formed around it.

Leolinda ~  I love your intrepretation of this photo  "become strong and embedded with our principles and beliefs"

Jane ~  The most incredible thing about this photo is that when I walked right up to the tree, the granite was split... It is amazing that the tree grew in the crevice and was so large... I haven't seen anything like this in the granite state before...

Kat ~  AMAZING is the operative word.  Mother Nature is at it again!

Hi Joan, It is always a little surprising when I see one these trees growing out of a rock. I saw a few different examples but they all would seem to defy logic. Our logis that is, not nature's. One thing that is undisputable,  that this tree had determination and however it's seed got there, it made due with than less optimal conditions and still made it. We should all be so fortunate.

Hi William   I wish I had your talent in taking photos... I just have a little point and shoot camera... however, it did capture the essence of this phenomenon.  I had to laugh when I read your final comment... "it made due with than less optimal conditions and still made it. We should all be so fortunate"   Isn't that the truth!

Ray ~  You are so nice to stop by and comment.  New Hampshire was chosen one of the best places to live in America... I can go along with that until it gets into winter.  I wish it only lasted for 6 weeks LOL!

Renee -- I love the photo with the pooches!  It looks like they are going to have a great labor day too.  Be safe and have fun.
