Wordless Wednesday: Evil Sprinkler

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with U.S. Cybertek, Inc.

In my apartment complex (as I'm sure such is the case in every apartment complex) the beautiful green lawns are watered by a sprinkler system. . . . Ours is just a little more unique than most! There are a few rules to remember about the sprinkler system, that if you should forget them you will wind up very wet. They are as follows:

1. There is no timer, the sprinkler can sense you coming and turn on when it pleases them to do so.

2. The odds of the the sprinklers turning on when you are coming home from the grocery store in the wee hours, loaded up like a pack mule and unable to run, are 99.9% likely.

3. No matter what their set pattern, one will deviate to blast you with a pressure washer worthy stream of freezing cold water. . . . especially if you are nicely dressed or (heaven forbid!) wearing white.

Oh. . . And running away? Not a good idea! It only makes them angry and they make you pay for it later! ;)

Very good Phly.  Just this last week my timers decided to totally go off schedule and got me in the driveway when I drove in after work.  They are set to start at 5 am.

They definitely seem to have a mind of their own, and what is with the fact that there is always 1 of them that seems to point all over the place and hit everything except the lawn.

So Phly, the evil sprinkers are obviously male if they have an affinity for catching you while wearing white....   But on the other hand, their willingness to go off at any time would make one think they might be of the opposite gender.... hmmm, Sybil's schizophrenic sprinklers???

The sprinklers do seem to have a mind of their own!  Good luck dodging them!

Doug - One totally soaked me coming back from church Sunday before last. It waited until I was wearing my favorite heels too! The wretched thing! ;)

Dawn - Thanks! ;) I saw some poor woman wearing a white sundress get blasted a few months ago. I was momentarily torn between offering her a towel and trying not to anger the sprinklers, but she ran inside her apartment before I could do anything.

Robert - There is one that washes my parking spot neighbors car on an every-other nightly basis. It's pretty funny! :D

Bill - I'm thinking just plain ol' vanilla evil. They specialize in catching me coming home from the store or taking out the trash at night. It's all dark and creepy anyway, and then all of a sudden you are being attacked by blasting jets of freezing cold water and trying to run without dropping anything or slipping and concussing yourself. . . . . Also the fact that a Halloween store has opened up right around the corner does not help anything!!! ;)

Karen - Thanks! I have a new system that I'm trying out, I walk on the grass instead of the sidewalk. That way I never actually get wet. ;)

Phly, the evil sprinklers struck just last week, but I didn't mind so much as the temps were well into the upper 90's.  My clients and I got a good laugh out of it.

Nick - LOL! What a fun story! ;) It's not too bad when it's warm, but it's been a bit chilly here lately so it's not so pleasant!

Hysterical! This reminds me of the evil smoke alarm battery. They always make sure to die at 2 in the morning when you're in REM sleep!

Craig - Funny you should mention that! Did you know that smoke alarms have nothing on carbon dioxide detectors, sound wise?  The carbon dioxide ones sound like a police siren with a fire truck thrown in for good measure! Not so fun at 4 am! (too early to be awake, but too late to go back to sleep. . . sooo evilly diabolical!) ;)

Soo...  Are you that girl that is responsible for the broken sprinkler heads, and when pulled over by the police, you have to explain the 43 sprinkler heads in the trunk...  :)  HAHAHAH!

Pretty funny! Buy a house and get out of that apartment and you can set the sprinkler timers when you want. I suggest to run at 2-4 in the morning when your in bed safe!
