I was perusing some old magazine article and ran across one article that re-ignited an old interest, “Building Your Own Gym”. After reading the article, I am motivated to get back in shape. Decades of promises have gone by the wayside. Now is the time for ACTION. I have room in by basement for a Gym, there is a store “Second Time Around” in the adjoining town, where “recycled” equipments is fairly priced.
The same urge that came over me 28 years ago, is back. Back then my little girl came up to me one Saturday morning, poked her finger in my belly and said “Daddy’s fat, Daddy’s fat, gee Daddy your Fat”. That was enough, the next Monday, Daddy joined a gym, got committed and lost 5 pants sizes, yet my chest size remained the same, I succeeded into turned that fat into muscle and after 9 month felt like I was 17 again.
In my current home, I have a gym, free weights, exercise cycle, tread mill, stepper, and weight machine, all purchased over the years and all for a great price. My commitment to those on Active Rain, I will again use this fine equipment, I will lose those pant sizes, and I will feel like I am 35 again.
Recent studies have found that as one ages, it is more important to concentrate on “Strength Training” than aerobic training. The article stated that your Strength Training should be the same percentage of your routine as you age, because as we age, the muscles seem to deteriorate faster.
Time is running out, how will you look and feel in 90 days? Are you committed to a “younger you”? I am, since I plan on working for a couple of more decades and I don’t want to feel and look “Old”.
