Recalling Not Recalculating

We use it everyday, in fact we rely on it
. Following it's instructions mindlessly all day long, turning when it says, making u-turns and stopping when it tells us we have arrived at our destination. It's our navigation system that directs our driving.

Garmin Nuvi Navigation System It's fantastic to have, we recommend a navigation system to anyone. So convenient especially when travelling in new cities and areas. Recently however, we heard there are problems with our co-pilot, he may be headed for a burn out. Literally, if it is selected Garmin Nuvi models.  Specifically model numbers 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT (where the xx is a two-digit number).

Over 800,000 units were sold in the United States alone and Garmin is only aware of 10 defective units,
but it is better to be safe than sorry. If you drive with a Garmin Nuvi please check your friends model number and stay safe!

I used to tease clients that as Realtors we do not have left or right turn signals, we have u-turn signals!

But now, with my Garmin, I never get lost!

"I listen for a living." It's all about you.

GPS is a wonderful thing unless you think "Big Brother" shouldn't know your whereabouts. As a realtor I depend on my phone's GPS system.  I remember the day a month ago when it went out and I was hopelessly lost for a bit. Thanks for your post

Hi Al & Peggy,

I usually get lost turning around, so when hubby got me my first Garmin I was in heaven and so was he. We could now avoid this conversation:

"Hi. I'm lost."

"Where are you?"

"If I knew that, I wouldn't be lost."

Thanks for the head's up.

Can relate Craig, always told the clients we were showing them the neighbourhood!

That's the only thing right Larry, when it doesn't work, you can't get around!!

It does stop the driving discussions for sure Pam! Turn here, no there, missed it!

Smart idea Sharon. Sometimes we think we do know a better route than our GPS suggests.

Yes make sure your Garmins are not the recalled babies Chris. Ours was safe though having it replaced with a new one was ok too! :)

Al and Peggy I am not sure from your blog what the problem is with the Garmin.  I have a TomTom and have not had a problem with it.

How did we ever go anywhere without them? I've got a Tom Tom too, and its been great, I prefer it over the pre installed car ones. Much more thorough.

Al and Peggy I think this is the type I have so thanks for this info.  I had to laugh because my husband was not too happy with the route the GPS took us today.

It seems George in some of the models of the Garmin Nuvi, the battery is burning up. Garmin says they are only aware of 10 issues, but are recalling certain models to be safe. We have a Garmin but not any of the models they are concerned with.

Check it out Debbie and stay safe! We had just bought our daughter one and hers is ok.

That's funny Ellen because we have a pre installed one also. Last year we took both to Myrtle Beach and they argued which way to go all the way down there LOL!

Sometimes us humans to know the better way Jennifer!! Check out the model number though.

Al & Peggy,

We use our GPS ALOT. I use the GPS/Google maps like the yellow pages.  Very handy indeed.

I can't do a GPS. I've tried. I just need to have a real map in my hands so that I can look at everything around where I am and find the interesting and out-of-the way things to go to on the way home.

GPS is great, especially when you are driving in unfamiliar territory. I do FEMA disaster inspections and I couldn't get along without my GPS. It is especially useful after a hurricane where all the street signs have been blown down but the GPS knows exactly where I am.
