Thoughtful Thursday - You Can Take The Girl Out Of The Country - But Not Forever

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Real Estate Centre Inc., Brokerage

You've heard the old saying "You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl."  I did some searching on Google to see where that saying originated but couldn't find much, only a few country music songs.

If you live in a city and need some relief from the noise, traffic, pollution, etc., head for the country.  Hop in the car and point it towards Rural Route anywhere.  The quiet country roads provide amazing scenery.  Horses and cows grazing, beautiful farm properties, old stone houses, colourful barns, many in disrepair but full of character.

Check out the farmers working their fields.  They work just as hard, or harder than the "suits" in the city.  Cornfields, bales of hay, hawks flying over the open fields all make for great photo opportunities.

Yes, they say you can take the girl out of the country - but sometimes you just have to go back.

The next time someone tells you to "get out of town" - try it.

This is just 15 minutes up the road from you.  I was in Kitchener last week having coffee with a friend at Starbucks near Walmart on Fischer Hallman.

Hi Jenny, such beautiful shots you have captured in the country.  Who knows, perhaps you will start a trend in Ontario of folks moving from the city to the country side!   ^_~

Al & Peg, well it was Starbucks in Kitchener so thought it may be a little out of your way lol.

Fred someday we will indeed share a Starbucks coffee.  My sister just spent a week on the Island visiting her son who flies float planes out of Campbell River.  Don't think she got down your way though.

Bruce - What a wonderful concept.  Let me think about that :)

Jenny, look at those beautiful horses.  They look so relaxing, yes, you are right, one day or even half a day in the country can do us some good.  We need that from time to time.

Jenny -

No need to "get out of town" in parts of Markham.  Yesterday, while at 16th Avenue and Reesor Road, I enjoyed watching the new road infrastructure under construction on one side while on the other side, the horses were grazing away.

A few minutes later in Unionville at 16th Avenue and Kennedy Road, I enjoyed driving by built-up Unionville on the south side and about 20 to 30 cows on the north side of 16th Avenue.

Kathy will know exactly what I am talking about.

Hi Rita, I think the problem is that some people don't know how to relax.  Heart attacks in the making.

Thanks Janice - yes they are beauties.

Thanks Mary, I'm sure this is a common scene for you in your area.

Hi Ed, glad to know you are able to relax with a good game of golf.  And great exercise while taking in all of nature's delights.

Hi Matt, that's great that you can escape to rural Iowa.  Lots for the kids to see.

Thanks Wanda - the dog was in the car and she wanted to reach out and touch them also lol.

Hi Jennifer, I'm sure you have some great rural settings in your area also.

Hi Kathy, yes I guess Markham was a small town at one point.  You have a great setting where you are now.

Hi Marc, funny isn't it how rural and urban can be right across the street from each other.

Thanks Carra - yes we all need to find some cows sometime lol.
