MANAGING YOUR AR POSTS/RESPONSES IN EMAIL SOFTWARE

By

I am new to Active Rain, but kind of a fool for technology.

Smiliar to any networking site, it could be really easy to spend hours on end searching, posting, looking for replies, etc.

I was previously using an email program called Eudora (which is great) but switched to Outlook 2007 a few months ago. With both programs you can setup "filters" or "rules" where you can sort your incoming emails or what not. I have rules for all of my different types of emails - in-house brokerage emails go into their own folder, my marketing responses or online search emails into another and my active rain emails all sort "auto-magically" into their own folder.

This allows me to do one thing at a time as well as prioritize and spend certain times each day for specific tasks. You can set different types of notifications in both programs as well to play a sound, display a new window or what not to let you know when you have new mail in a given folder.

I would be curious to know what other people to do manage or check/respond to their blogs and posts.

Hey Lee...interesting thoughts.  I'm one of those people who never utilizes the full potential of the technologies I already have, so of course I have the ability to make filters and don't use them.  Now that you've brought this up - I'm going to give it a try!  Thanks :-)

aha! your quick reponse still caught me in my active rain time!

If you use Outlook, you can just right click on any message and select "create rule" - which opens a box to define your new rule - you can also create a new folder in the "create rule" box

In Eudora or other programs, you generally select the message and then choose tools, or filters, or something similar

let me know how it works out for you!

I too am a fool for technology and I do have filters set up for outlook as well.  It makes my life so much easier and organized.

rock on Joe! do you use a portable device for email at all?? I haven't gotten into smartphones/email on phones/blackberry, but I've been wondering what that will do for me rule or filter wise ...

My belief is that depends on how you use the server - setting up exchange server will use same setting - simply "pushing/forwarding" email to the device will not filter?

anyone??

Hi Lee.  I use Outlook in a similar fashion to sort and monitor email.  AR notices go to my general inbox.
