Seller finally agreed to some staging and the HOUSE SOLD in 2 WEEKS!

By
Home Stager with Evansville Home Staging & Re-Design

I have heard this many times.....

What  are the sellers or agents thinking when they don't agree to stage??

A small investment can make all the difference in the world in how fast the home

sells and for how much.

But yet time and time again they will choose to just wait and see if they can sell it

without spending money  on staging, when in reality it is costing them more money

to wait.....

Great news that the house sold in 2 days! Yes we Brenda it makes all the difference in the world and more cash in the Owners pockets. Some don't even bother to clean up though.

I cannot tell you how often I have heard.. "Well, we just thought we'd put it on the market and see what happened...."

I did a consultation a few days ago for a seller whose home had been on the market for almost two years. The original price was just under $1,000,000. Over the period it had been slowly reduced to $729,000.  A lovely building in a great neighborhood. But upon opening the door it became apparent why there had been no offers even at the drastically reduced price. This house looked more like a funeral parlor than a warm and welcoming home. Burgundy and purple and bad art everywhere. Every window covered and a few dying houseplants here and there.

I offered my suggestions as gently as I could trying not to insult or overwhelm the sellers. I think they were relieved to get some really "down and dirty" helpful advice. ( I always wonder in a case like this, why isn't the Realtor more aware of the problem ?)

Could staging this home appropriately make the difference?  In time I may find out. The homeowners have decided to take it off the market and hire a new Realtor. I HOPE they will call me to stage it when they are ready.  ( I can't wait to pull down those purple drapes !!)

Thanks to you all, I don't think I can ever thank sellers enough who totally get it and will do what ever I suggest.

They understand I would only recommend what works best...
